Astrophysicist: chance of earth existing statistically is...
Hugh Ross is an astrophysicist who was at one time faculty at Caltech. He holds a B.Sc. in Physics from the University of British Columbia and an M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Astronomy from the University of Toronto.
His doctoral research focused on quasars and galaxies with a core topic in astrophysics.
During an episode of The Deep End podcast, Ross provided the statistical probability of earth existing in its current form, based on the knowledge available.
He told Taylor Welch, host of the show, that it would be the equivalent of buying a California lottery ticket and each time winning 200 times in a row.
He said one mathematician went even further and said it would be like winning the California lottery 200 times in a row without ever buying a ticket.
